Monnow Agronomy
Independent Agronomy and Agroecology Services
Independent Agronomy
We offer truly independent agronomy advice on nutrition, livestock integration, soil microbiology, agrochemical and soil management.
Holistic Systems
Our approach is to adopt holistic systems, in doing so reducing purchased chemical and fertiliser inputs, to provide a higher profitability and greater resilience to challenges.
Hybrid Approach
With all soils in different successional states, agronomy approaches need to be flexible to balance inputs against need. A hybrid approach aims for reduced reliance on purchased inputs but these are still available to use when required.
Our Services
Discover more about our range of services below.

Fully Independent Agronomy
We offer regular crop walking to help you maximise margins utilising independent trial data and in season sap & leaf analysis to make informed decisions. Balancing crop nutrition and promoting plant defence, logistically implementing this forms part of the integrated approach.

Cover Crops
Boosting organic matter, nutrient availability, drainage, moisture retention and in-field diversity. Cover crops can be an important element of building a system, how these are implemented can be the difference of ensuring the most out of your investment.

Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI)
Companion Cropping, Field Margins, Integrated Pest Management, Soil Management and Nutrient Management. The available SFI options can be a useful tool to achieving ecological, diversity and economic targets on-farm. We can assist in not only meeting the objectives of these options but how to implement them in a practical manner.

Tissue, Sap, Soil and Brix Analysis
How can we expect crops to not require high chemical inputs if soils are neglected? We look closely at how soils are functioning and not just a short term fix. Utilising Sap, Leaf, Soil, Grain, Active Bacteria/Fungi and PCR disease analysis.

Livestock Integration
Disease & lodging reduction, increased rooting mass and connection, cycling organic nutrients in arable soils. Introducing livestock into arable rotations can bring a number of benefits to the livestock, crop and margins. Careful management and considering variables is very important to the success.

Composting & Microbiology Brewing
Implementing aerobic or anaerobic composts are important to get correct, if you're looking at Hybrid / Compost Brewing, Victorian Composting or Johnson-Su Bioreactor's then we can assist. Often it is a case of fine tuning approaches and applications, we use data analysis to help review and improve methods.
